Juniors serve up tennis goods at Uvongo

It’s important for children to see what a great sport tennis is.

TENNIS fans at the Uvongo Tennis Club enjoyed the popular Junior Spring Tennis Tournament last Saturday.

Coach Frank Hall said that the number of children taking part in the annual tennis tournaments is growing every year and this is a fantastic achievement.

“We want to support the development of tennis in the region and with so many children taking part we are hoping to see some of them become tennis stars in the future,” he explained.

He added that much is being done in the community to involve young children in the sport.

“It’s great to inspire so many at days like these and give them the opportunity to take up a sport they might not normally get a chance to play.”

One parent remarked: “It’s important for children to see what a great sport tennis is and what a rewarding feeling it can give you if you work hard. It’s also a lot of fun.”

Results

Boys: U10 – Edward Bense; U12 – Hriday Kambaran; U14 – Daniel Naidoo; U16 – Sinesipho Ncwadi.

Girls: U12 – Mia Borchers; U14 – Emily Peckham.
