Free tennis for juniors at Uvongo TC
Youngsters are encouraged to make use of this initiative while it is still free to see if tennis is a sport they would like to continue and benefit from.
THE recent ‘Back to School’ tennis tournament held at Uvongo Tennis Club came on the back of a successful December tournament.
Organiser and coach Frank Hall of South Coast Tennis, said that in December the doubles had been rained, hence the January event including singles and doubles.
In general, Frank said South Coast Tennis was doing its utmost to promote the sport at a junior level, by having free youth development tennis sessions at Uvongo Tennis Club on Wednesdays and Fridays.
“These sessions have been running for the past eight months and it’s been awesome to see the talent emerging,” said Frank.
He said these free sessions would end at the end of February this year.
Youngsters are encouraged to make use of this initiative while it is still free to see if tennis is a sport they would like to continue and benefit from.

South Coast Tennis not only coaches the youth, but also adults of all ages.
Cardio tennis sessions are held at Southbroom and Uvongo Tennis Clubs. “They’re a great way to stay in shape, hit lots of balls, and meet new friends and people,” said Frank.
He is also involved, with the help of Southbroom Tennis Club, in bringing tennis to Gcilima Primary School.
“We are taking tennis into the rural areas, where there must definitely be talent or an interest to pursue tennis.”
