Swiss swallows swoop to take laurels
More than 20 teams teed it up for the two day event.
The Applied Outsourcing International Shootout played at Southbroom Golf Club saw Best Friends take first prize and bragging rights in this competitive teams event.
In past years it has been held over three days, but this year was shortened to two days.

It attracted players, nicknamed the ‘swallows’, from England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden and Belgium.
The decision seemed justified, as more teams entered and had more fun, arguably, despite the intense February heat.
Day 1 saw Sultans of Swing take an early lead on 89 points. The team comprised Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsley, and Pick Withers.
No, not really, in fact they were Martin Hutton, Glynnis Hutton, André and Leanne Ollewagen on 89 points.
Runners-up were the Bloody Foreigners, regular visitors from overseas in Roger Phillips, Heather Anderson, Emil and Hanna Hierhold 86 pts
In third spot was the sponsor Colin McKay and his AfroScots team comprising Russell Mackenzie, Fred van Zyl and Gary Purtell, on 84 points.
Day 2 saw The Strugglers make a charge up the leaderboard, with Jurgen Feeder, Anton Brehm, Stephan and Ruth Egbert card 98 points.
Runners-up were The Morgens, namely Sandy FitzGerald, Gerald FitzGerald, Jean and Paul Cole on 96 points, counting out Best Friends from Switzerland namely Andy Bossard, Eli Bachmann, Uli and Seline Matzinger.
While Best Friends did not pick up a daily win, they did clinch the overall win on 178 points, counting out Bloody Foreigners.
Third place overall went to Biltong & Braai, namely Eugeen Orsmand, Nic van Deventer, Kevin Murray and André Steyn on 177 points.
Sultans of Swing had to settle for fourth place with the Morgens next in fifth place.

The previous Wednesday’s alliance was won on 87 points by Jill Webster, Pauline Tillcock, Solange Fox and Janet Humphrey, by 10 points from Karen Schmidt, Margeret Stoellinger, Jenny Holford and Glynnis Hutton.
The men’s alliance saw the honours go to Gordon Moody, Jonathan Shaw, Brian Hoggart and Bob Carmichael on 93 points, by three from Derek James, Joseph Stoellinger, Graham Holford and Anton Panhofer.
In third place on 89 points were Craig Treherne, Andre Steyn, Christer Solgevik and Leon van Schalkwyk.
Last Friday’s competition, which served as a practice round for the International Shootout, was won on 82 points by Anton Panhofer, Karin Schmidt, Heleen & Roger Hissey.
They counted out Chris Miller, Paul Lawson, Vic Pretorius and Geoff Skelton.
