Sanjay on song at Sheppie

There has been no shortage of excitement at the club this past week.

Sanjay Singh had a week to remember at Port Shepstone Country Club this week, winning two competitions.

The first was the JB Licensing business day last Friday, where he teamed up with Leon Bunge, Paul Geoffery and David Rush to win on 94 points.

Sanjay hit almost every fairway, including a semi-pulled top on the 15th which still managed to find the mown grass, just not very far from the tee box.

Runners-up were Howard Crouch, Smittie Stieger, Jaco Buitendag and Ken Morris on 91 points.

In third place were Niel Retief, Jimmy Parsons, Rob Piers and Christo Janse van Vuuren on 88 points.

Paul Geoffery chops his way out of the reeds next to the 15th green at Port Shepstone Country Club.

The next day Sanjay won the overall monthly mug, sponsored by Auto Exec, shooting 75 off his eight handicap for a nett 67.

He was only one shot behind gross winner Graham Fabricius.

The talk of the day, however, wasn’t Sanjay’s blistering round, but rather of the massive branch that broke off of the tree in the car park.

Crunch … as part of the car park tree comes crashing down.

Somehow, it did not fall on any of the vehicles.

The Stableford was won on 36 points by Hans Stols, with Dirk Brand two behind.

A division honours went to Gerhard Labuschagne on nett 72, with Kirk Larsen on nett 73.

B division winner was Leif Holmstedt on nett 70, one ahead of Albert dos Santos.

Winner of the C division was Ewald Ziervogel on nett 72, four ahead of Thys Blom.

Runners-up were Eddie Fann and Fanie Kuhn on 42 points, followed by Johann du Plessis and Pete Stoppel on 41 points.
