Tennis pro finds form on fairways

Christopher is from Ramsgate but now lives in Austin, Texas.

CHRISTOPHER Haggard, better known for his abilities with the tennis racquet, has also become a more than decent golfer since his retirement from the ATP.

He recently shot 68 during the Ken Flach ATP Member Alumni memorial tournament at Indian Wells, California to have the lowest individual score.

He also won the team event with Christo van Rensburg (former SA tennis pro) and Chris Dunk.

The tournament was held in memory of Ken Flach, who won six grand slam titles (four doubles and two mixed) and doubles gold at the 1988 Olympics with Robert Seguso.

Ken died suddenly on March 12 last year, from sepsis, and his widow Christina has done much to keep his memory alive.

Christopher also watched some tennis at the Indian Wells Masters and of course, was especially pleased with his form on the fairways.

He’s a left-handed tennis player, who specialised in doubles in his day, but plays golf right-handed, although he can putt left-handed.

Christopher is from Ramsgate but now lives in Austin, Texas.

He is the tennis coach at Grey Rock Golf Club, where he is able to combine his passion for both sports.
