Great wins for both league teams at Umkomaas Golf Club

THE Umkomaas Golf Club men’s and ladies’ leagues teams enjoyed winning ways recently and flew the Umkomaas flag high.
The ladies played against Scottburgh at Port Shepstone and took away five of the six points on offer with two wins and a draw.

These points should provide a healthy boost to Umkomaas’ position on the league table with just two matches left in the season.
The men’s side played at Umhali but took on Cotswold Downs smashing them by securing 8.5 points to just 3.5 points.
The monthly mug was played in good conditions, considering the high winds experienced recently.
Dave Kemp, steady as ever, was awarded the Malanda Toyota Mug for a superb 66 nett.

Divisional winners included: A division – Jacques Kirstein (36 points), Francois Rossouw (33 points). B division – Dave Kemp (40 points), Nelson Moonsamy (38 points). C division – Keith Vergottini (33 points) and Ken Koster (31 points).

Over the school holidays the juniors performed very well in a range of junior tournaments, emerging victorious more than once.
Congratulations to Oupa Willie O’Connell for coaching his talented grandsons and building their skill.
Umkomaas Golf Club will once again host our ever-popular quiz evenings on Friday, August 2.
These family-friendly events have proved to be a great hit and we encourage those who’ve never attended before to come down and experience #TheFriendliestCllub for themselves.
