Matriarchs hold sway at Margate
The windy weather did not seem to bother some players.
The Margate Country Club ladies section played a Nassau competition last Tuesday and winning the front nine was Lexley Lewis on 19 points.
Winning the back nine with 17 points was Beryl Williamson, while the overall winner for the 18 holes was Connie McArthur on 40 points.

Last Saturday, in extreme wind, the ladies played a three-ball alliance, which was won by Lexley Lewis, Hannetjie Pretorius and Sandi Johnston with 67 points.
Coming second were Chiappini Boshoff, Lizzie Meyer and Una McLachlan who (for the records) have a combined age of 258.
The Club 100 was won on 38 points by Andrew Curlewis, one ahead of Flip Fourie.
Wednesday saw the Wobblers play an alliance and taking first place with 83 points were Piet Pretorius, Peter Hunter and Otto Mutschler.
Second place went to Eddie Gommersall, Andre Henn and Dave Morrison on 78 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dave Boyd, Juerg Meier and Konnie Konrad with 66 points.
Thursday’s Pro Shop Day was an IPS format and winning on 39 points was Chris Redelinghuys.
Riaan Croucamp came second on 36 points as well as taking the closest to the pin for two on the 7th.
Flip Fourie took closest to the pin on the 11th.
The Saturday club competition was played in a brisk southwesterly wind which did not deter an in-form Greg Litkie from winning with an amazing 41 points.
Greg also took closest to the pin for two on the 7th.
Second place, with 37 points, went to Peter Hunter on a countout from Arthur Ehlert.
Sydney Shingange took closest to the pin on the 11th.
