Samantha said her swimming years had shaped her to become the person she is today and she is now very excited to be in a position to take on the role of head coach.

Samantha Labuschagne will be the head coach of the Suid-Natal branch of the Margate Swimming Club (MSC), with training taking place at the pool at Suid-Natal High.

It will officially open on October 1.

She has been part of the swimming community for the past 16 years and has an absolute passion for the sport and its enduring success.

During her illustrious career she was talented enough to represent South Africa on the international stage, something she is very grateful to have been able to do.

Samantha said her swimming years had shaped her to become the person she is today and she is now very excited to be in a position to take on the role of head coach.

“I look forward to meeting all the up-and-coming swimmers and helping make them the best that they can be in the pool,” she said.

The reason for the establishment of the new branch is to accommodate swimmers who stay too far from both Oslo Beach, where Blue Ocean Aquatics trains at the Creston College pool, and MSC, which uses the pool at Southcity Christian School.

“Our main goal is to invest in our community and make swimming more easily available, in order to grow the sport,” said Gerhard Labuschagne, overall head coach.

Suid-Natal High principal Jakkie Herbst wishes Samantha Labuschagne all the best as head coach of the Suid-Natal High branch of Margate Swimming Club. Training will start at the school’s pool on October 1.

“Teaching children to swim and investing in their talents will definitely open doors for them.”

While Samantha is enjoying coaching, she hasn’t stopped competing, and will be taking part in the SA Short Course series, due to start fairly soon.
