Golfers remember Heno

Winning on a countout with 41 points and taking home the trophy were Brian Richards and Hans Beuthe.

Those who played in Heno’s Memorial Day were treated to very cold and windy conditions.

Thanks must go Tony Gradwell for his fantastic sponsorship and to the many local businesses that also sponsored some great prizes.

In fact the prize sheet went all the way down to 17th place, so if your name wasn’t mentioned at the prize giving you must have played really bad golf.

Interestingly, the captain and his partner were not mentioned!

Winning on a countout with 41 points and taking home the trophy were Brian Richards and Hans Beuthe.

Losing the count out were ‘drummer boy’ Gary Jones and Wayne Simpson.

Third place was taken by Alan Miles and Graham Brown on 40 points.

Taking home the much sought-after Stone Last Trophy was the duo of Willie Joubert and attorney Gerrie Odendaal.

Ladies nearest the pins were won by Linda Hall (2nd) and Debbie du Toit (10th).

The men’s nearest the pins were won by Shaun Jenkins (5th and 17th), with Mike Powell getting lucky on the 13th hole.

The longest drive on the 3rd hole was won by main sponsor Tony Gradwell who managed to keep it on the straight and narrow to claim the prize.

There was a great turnout on the day with many of Heno’s old friends playing or just coming along to join us for a drink.

Members also welcomed back Dennis Brown after his knee replacement surgery.

Last Wednesday’s competition was won on 47 points by Kevin Ramkisson and Ramu Rangasamy.

In second place on 41 points were captain Bob Hall and his old friend Mick Marriott.

Third place went to Simon Cubitt and Gordon Gardner on 38 points.

The hidden holes were found by Wayne Simpson.

Some of our old members returned to Scottburgh to play in the competition, namely Henry Hampton, Gordon Gardner, David Gould and Shaun Ridderhof.

It’s quiz night on Wednesday, October 28,and there will be a cheese and wine evening on November 25.
