Umdoni Park Golf Club reaches Interclub final
By all accounts the tournament was well hosted and the golfers had a great time.
There were mixed results for South Coast teams at this year’s KwaZulu-Natal Interclub, played at Margate, San Lameer and Port Shepstone country clubs.
By all accounts the tournament was well hosted and the golfers had a great time.
The highlight was Umdoni Park Golf Club reaching the final of the B division played at Margate CC, although twins Jack and Luke Cubbitt were ‘gutted’ to have lost, along with Gustav du Randt, to Drak Gardens 3-0.

They played well in the morning, beating hosts Margate CC 2-1, with the twins winning by wide margins and Gustav fighting back from four down to lose on the last hole.
The B division Alliance was won by Royal Durban’s Steve Young, Dean Stopforth and Graeme Forbes.
In the Frog division, Umdoni Park‘s Anthony Phillips, Guy Cluer and Gareth Hampson and lost to eventual winners, Maidstone GC.
On the other side of the draw Selborne Park’s Adrian van Vuuren, Tim McGregor and his son Stuart, who lost to Ethekweni.
Two Umkomaas teams made it to the Frog Alliance on Sunday, which was won by Southbroom’s Grant Richards, Graham Sole and Cyprian Xolo.
The teams were Moon Nelson, Saga Reddy and Viv Naicker, as well as Riek Janse van Rensburg, Mike Eriksen and Chris Pillay.

They did the club proud even though they felt their golf didn’t live up to their own very high expectations.
In the Senior Frog division, Umkomaas GC’s trio of Willie Boucher, Francois Rossouw, and Russel McKelvey reached the semi-finals of the Senior Frog division.
They lost to eventual winners Riverside, 2/1 after having qualified in third place.
The Senior Frog Alliance was won by Umdoni Park’s Steve Naude, Chris Coetzee and Jos Matthysen.

In the A division, Durban CC won for the third time in a row, beating Prince’s Grant, again the runners-up.
Amanzimtoti won the A division alliance.
