Great golf for Gilliver family
Perennials Brian Richards and Hans Beuthe took third place on 37 points, kindly donating their winnings back to the club.

You can’t keep the Gilliver family out of the golf news.
Last weekend son Jason was in Dundee for the KZN Interzone Country Districts tournament, representing Southern KZN at number one in the order.
He won the strokeplay by seven shots with rounds of 67 and 65 and finished off by winning all four of his four matchplay games.
Jason, who is off to Johannesburg this week for tournaments, was named MVP of the tournament.
They say it never rains but pours and it poured down over 120mm according to the Scottburgh Golf Club locals.
So on Wednesday the course was ‘yielding’ as they say in horse racing parlance and by Saturday it was only just starting to dry out.
On Wednesday the scores matched the conditions as they were remarkably low for a betterball Stableford.
Graham Brown, who works tirelessly on the course, was rewarded for his labours as he and Tony Power managed 38 points to outdo Derek Cowden and Trevor Wilkes on a count out.

Thanks to Halfway Toyota Park Rynie for sponsoring the monthly mug last Saturday, men’s and ladies.
But getting back to those Gillivers. Mom Hayley won the ladies section with a nett 77, by one from Delores McAuliffe on 78 with Alex Morris third on 79, who also managed the fewest putts with 29.
Not to be outdone dad Pete took the men’s best gross in the A division with 75 and as usual Barry Kisten took the nett with 69.
It was also a family affair as Hilton McAuliffe had the best gross in B division with 86 and club President Ian Walker took the nett with 73.
The C division played as individual Stablleford was won once again by Graham Brown with 38 points with Tony Power in second place after making a 10 on the first but making a tremendous come back.
Graham’s score which reverted to a nett 67 took the medal for November.
The Alliance was won by that formidable team of Brian Richards, Hans Beuthe, Tony Power and visitor Brian Philpot.
I got to wondering how a winner can also be a loser as Graham Brown led his team up to collect the Stone, then it dawned his team of Mick Marriot, Wayne Simpson and Dean Jooste were having an off day.
Flyer’s footnote: Good golf isn’t a matter of hitting great shots, it’s also finding a way to make your bad shots not so bad.
