Hogan and Jones in mix at Scottburgh
Dave Sirey and Mike Hogan recorded 2-clubs and Mandy Jones with playing partner Alex Morris owe the Stone R10.
The Nomads came to town on Tuesday and brought a full field of players.
Always welcome, to Scottburgh are these chaps so please feel free to pop in again anytime.
The Wednesday field was a little depleted as some played in the Nomads day but the regulars came in with some great scores.
Hans Beuthe and Wayne Simpson outclassed the field with 48 points to win by three from Mick Marriot and Roly Tickle on 45.
Dave Sirey and Mike Hogan recorded 2-clubs and Mandy Jones with playing partner Alex Morris owe the Stone R10.
The ladies played a Combined Stableford on Saturday with 63 being the magic number.
Pathma Moodley and Nikky Holloway had the luck as their 63 was better than Mandy Jones and Linda Hall’s who won the count out over the third place.
The men played their first monthly medal of the year thanks to Halfway Toyota at Park Rynie.
Darren Walker had the best gross score in A division with 79 and Barry ‘Mr Consistency’ Kisten took the nett with 70.
Tony Moore’s 84 was good enough for the B division gross with Hiltom McAuliffe scoring 70 to take the nett.
In C division, Brian Richards’ 37 points won the division with Graham Brown scoring 35 which reverted to a nett 67 to win the January medal.
No prizes for guessing who won the Alliance as Tony Power, Hans Beuthe, Brian Richards and Graham Brown shot 93 to win.
Par three birdies were made by Pete Gilliver, Ian Walker and Coenie du Bruyn and the Stone was claimed by Gareth and Darren Walker along with Dylan Harris and Brandon Joubert.
Coming up on Wednesday is a fourball Alliance and the golf shop and restaurant will be the sponsors of the Saturday betterball.
On a lighter note, here’s an ode to booze, from Low Flyer.
“Twinkle, twinkle little star, oh how I miss the golf club bar,
All the chat and all the cheer, oh how I miss my SA beer,
The liquor ban is such a ‘pyn’, oh how I miss my ‘brandywyn’,
The ladies too are feeling chronic, oh how they miss their gin and tonic,
And as I pen this little ditty, oh how I miss my fine Scotch whisky,
So Mr President please give us a break, oh how I miss my Captains handshake.”
Flyer’s footnote: Golf is an open exhibition of overwhelming ambition, skill and courage, deflated by stupidity and soured by a whiff of arrogance. These humiliations are the essence of the game.
