‘Re-Pete’ as Gillivers again on podium
It was hard going for everyone in the summer heat as the sun bore down relentlessly with hardly a breath of air
Well, the promised rain for all last week never materialised.
It started looking promising on Saturday afternoon with heavy dark storm clouds and high wind but it blew out to sea.
The weather department has made more rain promises for this week. I wonder if they haven’t been ‘captured’?
If it’s not Artha, it’s Martha as Denis opposed to Graham Brown was the winner of the Wednesday afternoon betterball Stableford with 45 points, supported by our friendly ghost Casper.
Brian Richards and Hans Beuthe claimed their usual spot with 44 points and another usual pair Mike Eley and Geoff Thommasen claimed third place with 43.
The hidden holes are on vacation and Alan Eriksen had the only 2-club.
It was medal time on Saturday for the men and the ladies played a fourball Combined Stableford with drawn partners all scores counting.
An unusual format but it ensured that everybody played out.
A score of 120 was recorded with Lauren Davey continuing her good form along with Esme Hadley, Pathma Moodley and Hayley Gilliver.
It was hard going for everyone in the summer heat as the sun bore down relentlessly with hardly a breath of air.
In the men’s A division Pete Gilliver, not wanting to be left out, had the best gross with 75 and as usual Barry Kisten took the nett with 73… we need more players in the A division.
Dean Jooste bagged the B division gross with 85 and John Mills claimed the nett with 70.
Denis Brown continued his comeback with 37 points in C division and Hans Beuthe had 34 for second spot.
The hidden holes are still away and Wayne Simpson rolled in the only 2-club.
Denis’s 37 points reverted back to a 68 nett to claim the February medal.
The timesheets are up for Wednesday’s betterball Stableford and on Saturday a combined Stableford with hidden partners.
Made for More will be the ultimate winners of this game as proceeds of the game will go towards this worthy charity.
The clubhouse restaurant and golf shop are sponsoring the day so come along and let’s fill the field for this cause.
Flyer’s footnote: When getting into trouble on the golf course the cardinal rule is; “don’t get into more trouble”
