Eagles smash records while enjoying view
Okay, so those who contributed to the lost ball count of 149 might disagree with the aforesaid but given a little bit of time they soon come round to a level of calmness.
They say that records are made to be broken. Well, if that is the case then the Village Eagles are making a habit of doing just that.
For the fourth time in a year a record field of golfers registered and turned up for the monthly Eagles game.
This time the record was well and truly broken by the 84 golfers that played at Umdoni Park, beating the previous best of 74 by 10.

Whether you are getting a 180 degree view of the ocean from the 18th tee box, having to wait for a bush buck to cross the 5th fairway, watching yellow billed kites fly over the 12th green or enjoying the walk/ride through the forest to get to the 2nd hole, playing golf at Umdoni is like taking a holiday.
Okay, so those who contributed to the lost ball count of 149 might disagree with the aforesaid but given a little bit of time they soon come round to a level of calmness.
Our fines’ master Dave Geils, who is also the Society’s treasurer, took the opportunity to re-enforce the Covid protocols by warning everybody that he would heavily fine anybody who did not abide by the rules.
Compliments must go to all because he had to resort to other mean ways of filling his empty purse.
Once again the Village Eagles members showed their willingness to be generous and the fines jars were soon overflowing.
By relaxing the lockdown to level one it meant we were able to hold a prize giving under certain conditions.
For the prize winners it is always better to receive both applause and jeering at a golf prize giving.
So it was that the winners on the day got a dose of both.
Ben Enslin, Jim Holness, Hans Brunings and Steve Stead did what all cricketers strive to do, scoring a century and winning with a nice round 100 points.

The best male golfer was Steve Stead on an individual 43 points and the best lady golfer was Cathy Kamstra who scored 40 points.
Six other fourballs got prizes so a big thank you goes to all of our sponsors.
