Bananas about radio control car racing again
The concourse was won by Bertus Kriel and his Alfa Martini Body with working lights.
It has been nearly a year since Banana County Radio Control Racing Club last raced and the members thoroughly enjoyed being back with an evening of fun racing at the Douglas Mitchell Sports Club.
The concourse was won by Bertus Kriel and his Alfa Martini Body with working lights.
Holly Steenmans and Yale Pillay were the youngest competitors on the day, with Holly especially enjoying racing with grandma Kitty.
Yale was a top qualifier but after playing with the switches on his radio, his steering was reversed towards the finishing line.
However, he still managed a second place finish, with Holly close behind him.
Kitty had her best race ever and took the honours with a first place finish, racing a Tamya Touring 01 (TT01) modified with the one mini chassis.
Dean Steenmans competed only in the first qualifier, before Yale took over the reins.

Dennis Steenmans raced very well with the mini and qualified second, but allowed Dean to race the final with one hand, which is not easy with a FWD car. André Steyn got his TT01 right and was flying in the final with Dewald van Zyl giving him a good go.
Although the race had all those in attendance at the edge of their seats, it was unfortunate on the second last lap, both Andre Steyn and Dewald van Zyl made a costly mistake that saw Dean take the honours, with Andre coming second and Dewald third.
