Bogeys and birdies for charity at Lions Day
Prizegiving was preceded by a host of auctions and a few raffles whist we were enjoying a tasty curry and rice supper.
The Lions Golf Day was a rip-roaring success and generous contributions were made by 68 golfers, sponsors, families and friends.
The weather was beautiful and hovering on the hot and humid side with relief in the form of refreshments at regular intervals on the course.
The Clubhouse restaurant supplied the after golf buffet supper for players and families.

Prizes were kindly available for all participants including those in “stone last”.
The Lions wish to thank all who supported on the day.
The winning ladies team comprised Mandy Jones, Alex Morris, Linda Hall and Hayley Gilliver.
With 85 points Nivash Mahabeer led his team of S Govindsamy, S Rangisamy and R Govender to first place in a hotly competed competition.
Second with 84 were the two Petes, Gilliver and Morris, overcoming their spousal defeat last week, along with Leon van Zyl and Conrad Kleinhans.
For third place a three-way count out on 83 went to Gary Barker, Morné van Wyk, Peet Pretorius and Emil Langeveld.
Every fourball was awarded a prize and the only losers were those who didn’t play.

They say that the choking begins as you drive down Magnolia Lane for the first time at the Masters tournament.

If justice were poetic someone named Green would win the tournament.
Congratulations to Hideki Matsuyama who donned the green jacket this year, the first Japanese player to do so.
As the tournament players were preparing to play at Augusta, here at Scotties we played an Individual Stableford.
It was a case of normal scoring if that’s the right phrase as Mike Eley played the course to his handicap and scored 36 points to win on countout over playing partner Mick Marriot – true Masters style.
Third was Wayne Simpson on 33 who also claimed the only 2-club, visitor Gert van Tonder claimed the Stone for the week.
A combined Stableford is the game on Wednesday. played with the partner of your choice, and the monthly medal will be played this Saturday (17th) and don’t forget the 9-hole Chicken Run this Friday.
Flyer’s Footnote: Amen Corner looks like something that fell from heaven but to some golfers it plays like something straight out of hell.
