The final was an absolutely stacked heat with both professional and amateur surfers representing their clubs.
Bryson opened strongly with a great two wave total which gave South Shore momentum. Next up was Jordan Boshoff, who until the day before, was a doubt due to an injured shoulder, and saw Evan fill for him in the first round. The pressure of having to catch two waves in three minutes did not phase Spittal as he secured a strong position which had the other teams eyeing the scoreboard.
Calvin Moore completed a successful two turn combo to keep South Shore in grasp of the trophy as Heather Clark followed up, using her experience from surfing competitive heats to further advance the team.
However South Shore, with eight minutes to go, was lying second and it wasn’t until the final few minutes that Andrew Banks put the finishing moves in to score a winning result and seal the deal.
The days final results saw South Shore claim first place with 35.41 points , followed by North Swell A who were runners-up with a close 34.87 finish. The Wave Wizards snatched third spot only 0.74 points behind second placed North Swell A, while North Swell B completed the standing with 32.38.
