Tennis club gears up for champs

Members enjoyed having Martin Pratt, Prevan Moodley and Stefano Francesconi joining in with hopes to see them more often in the near future.

What started off as a really blustery Saturday last week turned into a perfect afternoon for tennis, and with three visitors swelling the numbers, Umtentweni Tennis Club had five courts going all afternoon.

Members enjoyed having Martin Pratt, Prevan Moodley and Stefano Francesconi joining in with hopes to see them more often in the near future.

With less than a month to go before the club championships, members of the club have seen some of the names on the team sheets and are ready to kick off their training for the competition.

“We would like to extend a grateful thank you to our ever-willing chairman, Dan Dimitriu, for assisting with the duty last Saturday and all that he does and continues to do for our club, behind the scenes,” said club scribe, Jean Marx.

“A further congratulations go to our club members Pam and Raj Naganna on the birth of their second granddaughter, Kiarna. Raj told us the she is a real little lady and is brimming with pride. May she be a blessing to all the family.”

Club members on duty for the next two weekends are Anneli Mey (22nd) and George van der Merwe (29th).
