Pink ladies rule at Sezela

Jerry Davey and Lindy Suter did a great job in filling both greens in Sezela’s monthly 2-4-2 competition.

Forty Pink Ladies from Scottburgh, Widenham, Umkomaas and Amanzimtoti and, of course, the host club enjoyed a fun morning of bowls at Sezela Bowling Club.

The organising committee did a fine job and ensured the after match camaraderie was enjoyed just as much as the bowls.

Jerry Davey and Lindy Suter did a great job in filling both greens in Sezela’s monthly 2-4-2 competition.

The ladies section was won by AMBC’s Gina George and Annetjie Kidd, runners-up were Sandy O’Donoghue and Alison Carr.
Pat Navias and Beryl Finlay took the second session prize.

The men’s competition was dominated by the host club, with Kevin Davis and Ted Moffett winning the second session.

Steve Padgett, a very excited first time prize winner, and Brian Kidd were runners-up.

Winning both sessions were novices John Cryer and Alf Toy, both of whom are passionate about their bowls.

The men’s league team managed to get two points against their strong Riverside opposition.

Novices Conrad Smit and John Cryer experienced a tough introduction to first league bowls, playing with Corrie van Aswegen and Mally Swanby.

They both held their own and were certainly not out of their depth in their team’s victory by three shots.

Jerry Davey’s team however were on the receiving end of a record breaking loss.

As hard as we tried the Riverside team were just too good, running away with a plus 38 shot advantage.

Jerry made up for his loss by providing his home cooked curry for both teams in the after match camaraderie.

Friday 21st will see the draw for the annual Club Championships done after playing 12 ends in a tabs in game where the winning team will receive chickens kindly sponsored by new member Brett Terblanche.

It was good to see Jock Mackenzie has recovered from his hole in one on the golf course and has decided to return to bowls after a break.
