Jacks and Jills played to the tee

The game was sponsored by Graham Brown with some very, very tight pin positions and was played as a 3Jacks and a Jill.

There’s some construction on the 9th at Scottburgh Golf Club as we are building a new forward tee. For the ladies this will mean a move from the present tee to the new tee and that they will in future play the hole as a par four. There are also plans to do the same to the 11th for the same reason. This will then have the effect that both men and ladies will have the same par on every hole and bring us into line with the other clubs in the area.

On Wednesday, Tony Power and Denis Bown got back to winning ways as they cleaned up in the betterball Stableford. They won with 40 points over the grusome twosome Mike Eley and Geoff Thommasen with 36 points. Tony also had the only 2-club and Mike Bremner and Anton Visage weighed the Stone.

We welcomed Captain Bob Hall back after his break on Saturday just in time for the greenkeeper’s revenge.

The game was sponsored by Graham Brown with some very, very tight pin positions and was played as a 3Jacks and a Jill.

Pathma ‘Jill’ Moodley captained the winning team of Tony Power, Brian Richards and Wayne Simpson with a 77 point victory. The two spooks assisted Russel Freeman and Clyde Leisegang into second spot with 73 and ‘Jill’ Davey also known as Lauren guided the three some of John Mills, Thys Swart and Tony Moore to third place with 72.

Thys once again found the hidden holes with Doc Mahabeer, Bob Hall and Graham Brown rolling in 2-clubs.

New members Christine and Graham Porteous were introduced to the Stone and were shown to the table by Doc Mahabeer and Barry Kisten.

On a sad note we were informed of the death of past Captain Shaun Jenkins and Debbie du Toit’s mum during the week – all members paying a moment’s respect.

Flyer’s footnote: The best drive you will have in a round will be the provisional from the 18th tee.
