Golfers pull through despite weather
Had all those years been converted to minutes the wind would have quite easily blown them all out.
As is becoming the norm, Wednesday’s game at Scottburgh Golf was again cancelled due to the incessant rain.
Yes, the dams are full and the farmers are smiling, but we all need a little bit of sunshine in our lives now and again.
You never discuss a lady’s age so they say, but last Saturday Linda Hall revealed all as we signed her birthday card.
Had all those years been converted to minutes the wind would have quite easily blown them all out.
At prizegiving, husband Bob welcomed all the many visitors and introduced all the family that had come down for the celebration.
In celebrating, Linda sponsored the day’s golf and it was enjoyed by all.
With all the bluster Barry Kisten, Doc Mahabeer, Kevin Ramkisson and Ramo Rangasamy managed 73 points to win the day.
The two Petes, Morris and Gilliver, along with their respective spouses Alex and Hayley managed 70 points for second spot.
Mike Eley had son Stuart along to help Mick Marriot and Geoff Thommasen to third with 69.
May I just remark that any of those scores would have been a Stone lifting exercise in normal conditions.
Nearest the pins went to Matthew Hall, Pete Gilliver, Max van den Heever, Mick Marriot and Russel Freeman.
Instead of picking up the Stone, Gary Jones, wife Mandy, Grandson Nathen and Mike Hogan were rewarded with a bottle of wine.
Once the lights came back on we were treated to some great music and a party atmosphere right up to pumpkin time.
Coming up on Wednesday (maybe) is a betterball Stableford and on Saturday will be the re-run of Heno’s birthday bash.
