Hooked on fishing: Garrick in the pit

Caught by Steven Moodley of Palmview using live mullet as bait, 'Mr Hardthrow' himself wasted no time reeling the big fish in, in only five minutes.

Fishing is really a way of life for all enthusiasts on the South Coast, and Sandspit in Port Shepstone is proving to be quite the hotspot lately.

This week’s catch, coming out at Sandspit in Port Shepstone right under the famous Mzimkhulu Bridge, weighing in at around 8kg is the garrick.

Caught by Steven Moodley of Palmview using live mullet as bait, ‘Mr Hardthrow’ himself wasted no time reeling the big fish in, in only five minutes.

However, the wait for the pull needed a lot more patience.

“It took me two hours to get a pull. Fishing is a game of patience, and I am very patient especially with what I do.”
