Lepronts shine at SA Champs

The Lepront family won multiple national titles and awards at the Sea Harvest South African Junior Surfing Championships

Luc, Louise and Leah Lepront from Scottburgh were some of the most successful surfers at the recent Sea Harvest SA Surfing Champs, winning multiple awards and accolades at this prestigious annual event at Lower Point in Jeffreys Bay.

Leah, who has won many tournaments this year, continued her winning ways by nabbing the U12 Girls South African title and adding another trophy to her already bulging trophy cabinet. She also won the South African Surf Tour U12 Girls division.

Older sister Louise had a stand-out day on finals day. It all started with her 10-point ride early on in the event, the only 10-point ride. She went on to win the U14 Girls title and is now the U14 Girls South African Champion. She also won the award for Best Female Surfer.

Louise finished the year as the winner of the U14 Girls in the South African Surf Tour ratings.
While Luc didn’t make the finals at SA Champs, he still emerged as the winner of the U16 Boys division on the South African Surf Tour ratings.

Previously, he won a Tide Watch from Rip Curl for the most outstanding Male Surfer of the Contest for his recent performance at the Rip Curl GromSearch at Scottburgh last month.

All in all, a massive day for these Ugu Surfriders from Scottburgh – three titles, two South African champions, and one Best Female surfer award.

Next year, the focus of Surfing South Africa will be on junior surfing.
The association will look to prepare young surfers for possible surfing careers and Olympic Games representation.
