Betterball Stableford a hot affair at Scotties
The latest golfing news and results for Scottburgh.
Well that’s the first two months of the year finished, doesn’t time fly, before long it’s Christmas again.
The Betterball Stableford at Scottburgh Golf Club last Wednesday was a rather hot affair and not just the weather. New month, same old faces as Graham Brown and Tony Moore shot 40 points between them for a one point win over second placed Tony Power and visitor Get van Tonder on 39.
Another visitor who has played consistently at Scotties, Les Orchard finished third with old friend Spoekie for company on 38 points. John Ridl paid us a visit and rolled in a 2 club along with Tony Moore and once again Anto Visage and Johan Barnard picked up the Stone.
Pete Gilliver got back to winning ways as he scooped the pool for last Friday’s five pin with just 9 points beating Ian Baird on a count out. Jared Joubert was this week’s winner of a pocket of ‘nearly news’.
Saturday’s Individual Stableford saw an almost full list with a plethora of ladies names down. The Umthunzi Hotel and Conference Centre were the sponsors and you have too be quick to get your name down for this event. The ladies came to the ‘fore’ with Julia van Zyl amassing 43 points to win a two night stay with Dolores McAuliffe running her tight with 42 for an overnight stay.
The men were left far behind, with Tony Power getting third with what is usually a winning score of 38 followed by Graham Brown and John Mills both on 37, and all taking home bottles of wine. The men this week certainly taking a back seat. Julia also found the hidden holes accompanied by Herman Grotius with Wayne Simpson, Darren Walker and Deena Govender rolling in 2 clubs.
The course is closed this week, but will be open for this Saturday’s (11th) Betterball sponsored by P&G Construction. The Sardine Run list is almost full and with only 40 teams, it’s time to make sure that your team is entered to avoid disappointment, and also that we can order the correct shirt size for your team members.
