Water polo colours for Everraud

The Grade 7 boy has excelled at sport this year.

Sporting colours have piled up for Everraud Raynard this year. His family has a home in Umtentweni but he schools at Penzance Primary in Durban.

In addition to provincial swimming and rugby (15 man and 7s) colours at primary school level, he can now add provincial water polo colours.

While rugby may have been a later development, Everraud has always been strong in the water, so this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to those who know what he’s capable of.

His parents are Everraud and Michelle, and to avoid confusion he is sometimes called Jordan – although this can be confusing for those who know him as Jordan when they hear others calling him Everraud.

The capping ceremony was held recently and what makes it that extra bit special is that he is the first boy from Penzance to receive this honour.

* Everraud swam in the Capital K held at Midmar Dam recently.
He was seventh in the open category in the 3km and first in his age group , in a time of 41:25.
Not only did he win his age group but he also swam a qualifying time in the open water section for the SA Senior Nationals.

He will represent KZN at the SA Open Water Champs in March next year.
Later in the morning he finished second in the 1km race (13 and under) in a time of 14:26.
