From the Bowling Greens

The popular annual Margate Week bowls tournament began on Monday.

Stuart McMurtry from main sponsor Warwick Wealth delivered the first bowl of the popular annual Margate Week bowls tournament on Monday this week.
It’s the 56th staging of the tournament, and this year will be played on two Riverside Sports Club greens and one Southbroom green.
Margate BC’s greens were unfortunately damaged during the flash flood on April 14.
There were 36 teams of four players each taking part, coming from all over South Africa.

VILLAGE
Winning the JL Panelbeaters on April 23 were Johan du Preez and Dave van As.
Runners-up were Richard Derwan and Wober Heiner.
First session went to St. John Roodt and Mark Kassler. Second session went to Brian Douthwaite and Donnavan Mulder.

HIBBERDENE
The Re/Max drawn mixed trips was won by Kobus Rousseau, Charmaine van der Westhuizen and Tillie Kirkland.
In second were Albert Munnik, Brian Mertz and Hester Boshoff.
Session went to Alida Munnik, Bez Bezuidenhout and Joey Venter.

PORT EDWARD
The Tiago’s Power Pairs on April 27 was won by Jeepers Creepers, namely Leigh Warner and Amelia Pieterse.
Runners-up were the Huskies in Chris Green and Elbe Snyman.
Third place went to Flamin’ Hot, as in Colin Gourlie and Leoni Booth.

THE BELL
The club ran a fundraising competition for the benefit of South Coast Hospice on April 23.
Together with sponsors, the club raised more than R16 000, which was handed over to Hospice that evening.
The club extended a huge thank you to all the bowlers who supported its efforts and to the sponsors who contributed with donations or prizes.
