Trail runners impress

The Scottburgh group has shown great dedication to the sport.

It was an impressive performance by the Scottburgh trail running group last weekend, with athletes competing in several events and securing notable results.

At the George Mountain Ultra Trail by UTMB – which is a festival of trail running in the garden city of George, on South Africa’s east coast – the following results were achieved:

Rickey Hulley finished in a time of 09:51:20 in the 60km, securing second place in his age category. In the 45km: Mez Kennedy completed the race in 09:39:51 and Louis Nel finished close to Mez in a time of 09:39:49. Dhiresh Vallabh also participated and came in at 10:35:53.

At the KZNTR iNsingizi 20km: Lindsay Albers achieved first place in a remarkable time of 01:24:04. Brett Louw completed the race in 01:56:55.

In the 10km: Vanessa Hattingh finished the race in 01:27:55. Rhonwyn Brayley secured second place with a time of 00:58:31. Tyron Seach finished close in a time of 01:00:31.

At the Sappi Karkloof, 21km: Wade Cloete completed the race in 02:30:28. Crystal Pohlmann finished in 03:12:05, and Trevor Hay achieved a finish time of 02:20:23.

In the 9km: Linda Hay finished in 01:09:11. Megan Muller and Beverly Lawson participated in both 9km events on Saturday and Sunday.

The group’s participation in various events and distances, from the ultra-challenging 50km Mountain Ultra Trail to the more moderate 9km races, highlights their diverse capabilities and commitment to trail running.

Securing podium finishes in multiple events, including Lindsay Albers’ first place in the 20km and Rhonwyn Brayley’s second place in the 10km, underscores the competitive spirit and high-performance levels within the Scottburgh trail running community.

Overall, the Scottburgh trail running group’s active participation and success across these events reflect their strong presence on the trail running scene and their dedication to the sport.
