Eagles run up massive lost ball count

Village Eagles news and results.

Village Eagles golfers enjoyed a recent game at Selborne Park Golf Club, where the weather was cool, as is expected for winter.

The course was in magnificent condition for this time of year.

There were 64 players on the day and, with plenty of water on the course, it produced the highest lost ball count of the year.

In all, 201 were lost with one fourball losing 21 balls – and there were only three players! Cecil Smith’s estimate was the closest.

Winning the women’s prize was Shirley Chalupsky on 42 individual points. Her husband Herbie Chalupsky took the men’s prize on 38 points.

Herbie Chalupsky and Shirley Chalupsky were the best individual golfers on the day.

Overall winners on the day were Wikus van Kraayenburg, Rob Binnekade, Herbie Chalupsky and Shirley Chalupsky, on an alliance score of 93 points.

Longest day and collecting the Stone Trophy were Robin Melville, Stan Sim and Alistair Eyres on 53 points.

Results were calculated by Stan Sim, Alistair Eyres and Eddie Mathews.

On the fines side, Derek Hodge was the master and this was, once again, well-supported. Thanks were also extended to the sponsors.
