World title eludes enduro rider

The Paddock rider will be disappointed with the result but will renew his focus for what lies ahead.

Wade Young (GasGas) of Paddock has finished the 2024 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship in second place.

The season wrapped up at the recent Hixpania Hard Enduro in Spain, where Wade finished in fourth place, enough to secure him the championship runner-up spot.

German Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM) was crowned world champion despite only placing third in Spain.

He had to fight off a mid-season surge from Wade, who put some real pressure on him a few months ago.

Wade wasn’t quite able to sustain the pressure towards the end and eventually clinched second place by a mere point from Spaniard Mario Roman.

Manuel finished on 127 points, with Wade on 109 points and Mario Roman on 108 points.

Wade will now focus on the Roof of Africa, which will be raced in Lesotho from November 28 to 30.

He has won it eight times and will be aiming to equal Alfie Cox’s record of nine victories.
