The annual Beekman Classic played over two days at Port Shepstone Country Club, never fails to disappoint, and this year was no different.
It was won by Kreeson Naicker, his daughter Kiara, Sashen Govender and Darshan Pather. They carded 192 points over the two days to win by nine points from George Bowie, Fred van Zyl, Chippie Louw and Poen Olivier on 183 points. In third place on 182 points were Krishna Kandasamy, Bulelani Ngilandi, Bheki Zulu and George van Niekerk.
At the end of it all, a Massey Ferguson tractor was purchased with the proceeds from the event. The club thanked all who played, sponsored and supported the tournament. There was live music and wonderful prizes on offer.
The betterball last Wednesday was won on 47 points by Peter Howard and Allan Rowley. Runners-up were Howard Crouch and Ken Morris on 43 points, counting out Gavin van Wyk and Ian Stewart.
The business day last Friday, sponsored by Van Zyl, Retief Inc., was won by Gavin van Wyk, Rudi Steyn, Ian Stewart and Allan Rowley on 84 points. Runners-up were Howard Crouch, Sheldon van der Merwe, Jimmy Adamson and Tony Tarr. In third place were Schalk Oosthuizen, Ed Roux, George Bowie and Chippy Louw.
Saturday’s monthly mug was won by Gavin van Wyk on nett 77. Stableford honours went the way of Terry Kotze on 35 points. Mark Smith won the B division on nett 73, with Fanie Terblanche winning the C division on nett 74.
The previous Wednesday’s competition was won by Charles Hulley on 39 points, with Adrian van Vuuren next on 37 points, counting out Fanie Terblanche.
