Everraud Raynard has received provincial colours for three sports, namely rugby, swimming and now water polo.
The former South Coast learner, who is now at school at Westville Boys’ High, was recently selected for the KZN U14 water polo team.
They will compete in the South African Schools Water Polo champs in East London from December 7 to 11.
The water polo team comprises Carter Seiler (Hilton), Casey Marks (Hilton), Cristiano Sandri (Kearsney), Cruz Chapman (Clifton), Dru Mills (Kearsney), Finn Mallett (Northwood), Josh Watson (Clifton), Lincoln Burger (Clifton), Matthew Thompson (Westville), Maxwell Fowlds (Clifton), Michael Spooner (DHS), Mitchel Rodgers (Clifton), Oliver Hunter (Hilton), Everraud Raynard (Westville).
Unfortunately, Everraud will miss the first two days as he has been chosen to swim for South Africa in the 20th Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships in Windhoek, Namibia, from December 4 to 7.
His parents, Everraud Senior and Michele, should perhaps have considered having twins.
Everraud is one of three from KZN, the other two being Ramano Sefehle and Bandile Mahaya, plus coach Petro van Rensburg.
He’s competed in a few galas as a member of Kloof Aquatics SC in the buildup to this, namely the MAC SC Gala and the Kloof Junior Champs.
At the MAC gala, he earned gold in 200m freestyle, 200IM and 100m freestyle. He got silver for 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle. All of these were personal best times.
At the junior champs, he bagged nine medals. He received gold for 200m IM, 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
His silvers came for 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, with bronze medals for 100m breaststroke and 50m backstroke.
