The Lepront siblings represented the Ugu District well at the 2024 KZN Surfing Champs hosted by eThekwini Surfriders Association at New Pier in Durban recently.
Louise, Leah and Luc from Scottburgh have done their community and themselves proud.
The locals joined other surfers of various ages – representing the KZN districts of Ugu, eThekwini and Ilembe in a full line-up of surfers from U12 to U18, open and masters divisions.

Luc achieved second place in the U18 boys’ division.
Louise won the U16 girls’ division and the open women’s division, and Leah won the U14 girls’ division and placed fourth in the open women’s division.
Winners of all divisions are as follows:
U12 boys: Levi Vosloo (Ilembe)
U12 girls: Ella van der Made (Ilembe)
U14 boys: Melokuhle Zotshana (ESA)
U14 girls: Leah Lepront (Ugu)
U16 boys: Ashton Sangster (ESA)
U16 girls: Louise Lepront (Ugu)
U18 boys: Ntokozo Surprise Maphumulo (ESA)
U18 girls: Gabbi Herbst (ESA)

Open men’s winner was Shane Sykes (Ilembe), and open women’s champ was Louise Lepront (Ugu).
Over 35 men’s winner was Casey Grant (Ugu), and the women’s winner was Tamarys de Maroussem (Ilembe).
Over 40 men’s winner was Ryan Eric Balfour (Ilembe), and Over 45 men’s winner was Paul Canning (ESA).
Over 50 men’s winner was Gary Van Wieringen (Ugu), and Over 55 men’s winner was Rob Moore-Boyle (ESA).
Over 60 men’s winner was Fred Le Roux (Illembe), and over 65 men’s winner was Chris Knutson (ESA).
The U10 Boys division winner was Seth Seppings (Ilembe), and U10 girls division winner was Adriana Canning (ESA).
The KZN Club tag team winner was the Skulls, followed by South Shore and then NorthCoast Boardriders in third.
