Tyne wins ‘toughest swim’

It was an exciting day for all participants.

Scottburgh’s Tyne van Achterbergh raised the flag for the mid-South Coast when he placed first at the recent 25 Piers Surf Swim at North Beach.

It was an exciting day for all, with perfect weather conditions for the swim.

This event, described by many participants as the world’s toughest surf swim, had over 100 entries and 59 completing all 25 Piers this year.

Results are as follows:
Men – Tyne van Achterbergh -1st, James Kewley -2nd and Daniel Moynihan – 3rd.
Women – Madison Alberts – 1st, Bridget Theunissen – 2nd and Keren Worlock – 3rd.

The youngest male to complete all 25 Piers was Leon Kearney, and youngest female was Alexis Muller.

Oldest male to complete all 25 Piers was Graham du Toit, and the oldest female was Wendy Cook.

Durban Surf Lifesaving Club thanks all swimmers and sponsors for making the event a super success.
