From the Bowling Greens

News and results from South Coast bowling greens.

SOUTHBROOM
Fifty teams of trips were played in round one of the expanded year-long Hibiscus Brokers SuperTrips.
Play took place on January 30 at four bowling clubs, namely Southbroom, Riverside, Margate and Munster.
Now in its second year, the competition is so popular that Munster BC has been invited to come aboard.
The SuperTrips differs from traditional trips play in that each player has to play lead, second and skip, moving round as each skin of six ends is completed.
In every subsequent round, teams play on a strength versus strength format.
The monthly prizes are the same at each venue, while the top three teams after round 11 will net a total of R18000 in prize money.
Two divisions will be formed after six rounds, and the lower half will also compete for a year-end pot.
Winners at Southbroom were The SuperKings of Dieter Botha, Robbie Duyts and Jim Vaughan.
The Riverside Boys, Richard Griffiths, Clinton Edmonds and Gerhard Waldeck, won at Margate.
The Whisky Trio of Ross Ferguson, Shane Nienaber and Bruce Millar won at Riverside.
The Munster winners were Jokkie van Buuren and Pat and Sergio Ruperto.

The club is hosting a fun day, playing bowls golf, this Saturday, starting at 08:30 and followed by a bring and braai.
Non-bowlers are more than welcome to join in.
