Botha brothers keep it in the family

There was a fun atmosphere on the day.

Junior golfers were at it again at Margate Country Club recently, with the second leg of the Junior Cup taking place.

Jared Botha won the boys 13-18 division on 40 points and by doing so has catapulted into the Order of Merit lead on 58 points.

Xander Rosseau was second on 38 points, followed by Matthew Evans on 37 points and Grant Richards on 33 points.

Jared leads overall on 58, with Matthew on 54, Arav Maharaj on 51, then Grant on 47, tied with Cody Dry.

Gideon Janse van Vuuren won the 10-12 division on 17 points, with JJ Rosseau second on 13 points. Gideon also won the first leg and has a comfortable overall lead in his division.

Jared Botha and kleinboet Ryan find winning form.

Ryan Botha and Michael Evans tied for first in the 6-8 division, both scoring 13 points.

Abigail Kreuiter won the girls division for the second time, this time on 12 points.

The competition was played as a betterball Stableford across two divisions, according to age.

Organiser Carla Potgieter said she was delighted with the response, having initially only expected a few juniors from Margate to attend.

However, others have come from other clubs to take part, helping grow the game and increase the fun.
