CMCA fall short in thrilling final

It was exciting time for the youngsters.

Rorke Harris emerged as player of the tournament for Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy (CMCA) in the recent U13 Winter Cricket Festival.

But it wasn’t quite enough as they lost by three runs to Snipers in a gripping final that could have gone either way.

The tournament saw CMCA, Snipers and Challengers play each other twice.

It made for some close, exciting games.

During the week, CMCA beat RC Challengers twice, and won one and lost one to the Snipers.

Rorke ended with 136 runs and 10 for 98 in 17.4 overs. He also kept wicket at times.

Sohail Khan (85) and Seth du Plessis (75) were also among the leading run scorers.

A little further behind were Neil Bezuidenhout (46), Callan Hammond (46) and Liam Jackson (41).

Seth was miserly with the ball, too, taking 5-65 in 12 overs.

Caleb Turner (5-65 in 8) and Liam Jackson (4-94) were also among the wickets.

The CMCA Jaguars (girls team) held their own in the B section, adding fun and flair to the tournament.

Stefanie Gerber led the way with the bat, making 71 with Jennifer Jayne Miller making 46.

Saiesha Govender took six wickets and Evie du Plessis two.

Overall, they can be extremely proud of their efforts.
