The SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge has been named ‘Best Girls’ Tournament of the Year’ by SuperSport Schools, in recognition of its contribution to the growth of women’s sport in the country.
The tournament was established by Schoolgirls’ Sport with sponsorship by SPAR KZN to create a competitive, yet celebratory platform that would not only showcase young women’s hockey talent, but also widen participation by including schools from underserved areas.

“We believe in building healthier, stronger communities, and sport is one of the most powerful ways to do that,” said Damon Harry, Divisional MD SPAR KZN.
“The Challenge represents opportunity, empowerment and inclusivity, and we are proud to partner with the Schoolgirls’ Sport team in creating something that not only develops players and officials, but also inspires future generations of women in sport. Winning this award from SuperSport Schools, in its 15th year, marks a significant milestone in the journey of the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge, reaffirming its reputation as one of South Africa’s top tournaments for young women athletes.”
