Tweni2s Summer Retro 5000 set to hit Tweni Beach

It's going to be an epic day filled with waves, music and prizes.

Surf’s up for retro board enthusiasts as the Tweni 2’s Summer Retro 5000 returns to Umtentweni Beach on Saturday, December 13.

Surfers are urged to dust off their old single fins and wax up their twin fins for a day of celebrating the classics of the sport.

The event will maintain its famous ‘loose expression session’ format, with participants encouraged to ride as many different boards as possible across four one-hour sessions. The best male, female and grom will be chosen by both surfers and the crowd on the beach.

A new highlight this year is the ‘Battle of the Beaches’, a tag team competition featuring four surfers per team – one girl, one grom, one open and one master – riding twin fins or longboards. Each beach competes for bragging rights and prizes.

Surfing starts at 08:00 and runs throughout the day, with the tag team event beginning around 14:00. From 15:00, live music kicks off with Jason Hartman & Family, followed by South Coast legends Chewing The Hornet and surprise guests.

Tweni Beach will be the place to be this December.
