Interclub hat-trick for Southbroom Golf Club
The team this year comprised Gavin Sole, Jean-Marc Bouic and Graham Sole.
Southbroom Golf Club won the recent KZN Interclub for the fourth time in five years. That might be some sort of record, or close to it.
What’s for certain is that it’s the first time Southbroom has won it three times in a row, with Gavin Sole and Jean-Marc in the team on each occasion.
The ‘missing year’ they were runners-up, beaten by a strong Durban CC team.
In the semi-finals, played at Selborne Park, Southbroom beat Umkomaas and then defeated Drakensberg Gardens in the final, who had beaten Amanzimtoti.
Southbroom’s team this year comprised Gavin Sole, Jean-Marc Bouic and Graham Sole.
In past years David Rush and Cameron Olivant have been team members, but on different occasions.
The alliance was won by Empangeni.
In the B-division, Umkomaas beat Alliance GC in the final, with Selborne and Port Shepstone the losing semi-finalists.
Of interest, Cameron, playing for Port Shepstone, was six under through 11 holes when he won his game, but his teammates found things a bit tougher, unfortunately.
The Umkomaas team consisted of Viv Naicker, Greg Thiel and Kavish Sewpersad.
Margate CC won the alliance in the B-division, represented by Andries Fourie, Rupert Niebuhr and Conrad Boonzaier.
The Frog division was won by Umhlali CC over Umkomaas, the alliance going to Ethekweni.
In the Senior Frog’s Ethekweni beat Riverside, with the alliance won by Camelot.
