Fishing colours for Ugu district anglers
The progress of the junior fishermen has been excellent to see.
A large number of anglers from clubs in the Ugu district have received provincial colours. These were awarded at the recent KwaZulu-Natal Shore Angling Association capping and colours awards ceremony for teams for 2026.
The number of anglers capped is most encouraging, especially considering the number of new caps, as well as the number of juniors from Marlin AC, no less than five between the U16 and U21 teams.

* Marlin Angling Club: Arron John Pretorius – Seniors (new cap), KZN U21, Triangular team, Freek Stander – Masters, Niel Arlow – Masters and Triangular team, Dean Pretorius – Masters, Craig Pretorius – Masters (new cap) and KZN U16/U21 manager, Nathan Pieterse – U21 (new cap), Seth Pieterse – U16 (new cap), Kaiden Mayes – U16 (new cap), Declan Taylor – U21 (new cap), Jaodan Arlow – Triangular team. It is worth noting that the competition was fished recently and Jaodan won the tournament, catching a trophy bronze whaler shark. The interprovincial friendly was held in Jeffery’s Bay and hosted by Eastern Province. Jaodan was the top angler overall. He caught the shark at Sundays River surf on day one. It measured 223cm and weight by measurement was 158.7 kg.
* Glenmore Angling Club: Sean Bennett – Seniors (new cap), Alan Brummer – Masters, Jaque Venter – Masters, Graeme Bennett – Seniors B manager.
* Uvongo AC: Kevin Cowan – Grandmasters, Hendrik van Rooyen – Grandmasters (new cap).
* Ifafa AC: John Lindsay – Grandmasters, Barry Krause – Grandmasters.
* Tuna AC: Gerry Rambaran – Grandmasters.
