Tough Cookies walk and run against gender-based violence at Port Shepstone Country Club

Community comes together at dawn.

To take a stand against gender-based violence, the Tough Cookies Running Club – along with other walkers and runners – rose early last Friday morning to support the Women for Change South Africa campaign and the G20 Movement Against Gender-Based Violence.

The solidarity run, organised by Thobe Marcia Cele of Tough Cookies, had an impressive turnout, with everyone hitting the road just after 05:00.

Daniel Davies finished first among the men, while Carmen Lehmann claimed first place in the women’s category. The winners won a voucher each from One Up Fitness in Tweni.

Cele thanked the community for their support, saying the message was clear – the fight against GBV requires unity, visibility and consistent action.
