Masters glory for Gabrielle at San Lameer Country Club

The Masters is one of the oldest golf events in the country.

The Lifestyle Developers SA Women’s Masters, delivered with outstanding sportsmanship and growing support for women’s golf in South Africa, was won by rising star Gabrielle Venter on three under par for the two rounds.

The tournament returned to San Lameer Country Club, with golfers enjoying the scenic layout and wonderful weather.

Gabrielle placed third in last year’s event, after a stunning 67 and then a disappointing 79, so she was able to rectify that in emphatic fashion this time around.

Runner-up this year was Symone Henriques on +1, followed by Kiera Floyd on +2.

The Masters is one of the oldest and most prestigious professional women’s golf events in the country.

“It served as a platform to showcase elite talent, inspiring future champions, and elevating women’s golf in South Africa. It also provided the opportunity to showcase the beautiful South Coast for golf and property investment,” said convener Jenny Havenga of Lifestyle Property Developers.

She extended thanks to the various sponsors who made the event possible.

The tournament brought together 29 professionals, all competing for a R400 000 prize fund.

Five leading amateur golfers battled for top honours in pursuit of the coveted Sally Little Trophy, which was won by Liezl Smit on +18.

The two-day pro-am, which featured a field of 60 local and international amateur golfers, was played at San Lameer CC and at Southbroom GC.

Each fourball included one professional, which created an exciting and competitive team format, enriched by global participation and world-class talent.

2 Ivanna van der Merwe, Liam van der Merwe, Precious Mkhungo and Arlene Bailey 182 points.
