Scott Blount makes it count in fast finish at South Coast cycle race
The timed road race was sanctioned by Cycling South Africa and forms part of the six-race MD 24 Hills and Waves Series, with races held around the province.
Overcast conditions greeted the riders who travelled from near and far to take part in the recent third MD24 South Coast Cycle Tour race.
Not that they would have minded, as the summer has experienced some blisteringly hot days so far.
Winners of the 90km race were Scott Blount (men) and Gena Lofstrand (women).
Not much separated Scott from the next two riders after 90km of racing. Gena, on the other hand, won by miles.
The timed road race was sanctioned by Cycling South Africa and forms part of the six-race MD 24 Hills and Waves Series, with races held around the province.
Three events have been raced so far in the series, the previous two being the Karkloof Road Classic in Howick won by Warren Moolman and Frances Janse van Rensburg, and the Biggarsberg Road Challenge in Dundee won by David Shelly and Jordin Sandy.
Men’s and women’s series leaders are David Shelly and Jordin Sandy, respectively.
Coming up next year are the Durban M13 Cycle Challenge on January 25, Richards Bay Cycle Challenge in March, and the aQuellé Tour Durban on April 19.
