Tennis players shine at nationals

Sharon van der Schyff teamed up with Adam Myburgh to win the mixed doubles 70+.

South Coast tennis players flew the local flag with some pride at the recent SA Renault Masters in Gauteng East.

It’s the flagship event of the TSA Masters Circuit and players earn higher ranking points at this TSA tournament than at any of the others.

Sharon van der Schyff teamed up with Adam Myburgh to win the mixed doubles 70+, a wonderful achievement.

It was quite a remarkable effort from Sharon, who had been overseas recently, narrowly avoiding the bombing incident in Dubai on the way home.

Then, a few days later husband Rob required urgent eye surgery, which went well thankfully and so she could jet off again to go play in the nationals – all this while coordinating the local Cuatro tournament.

Martyn Nagtegaal lost in the final of the men’s singles 65+ in three sets, despite producing some high-level tennis.
