The Southbroom Easter Bowls Tournament, sponsored by GWM Haval, was won by the Trailblazers team of Wayne and Maureen Muller and Hylton and Avril Cannon.
They just pipped Crash Test Dummies of Cleve and Julie Walker, Tony Waters and Ian Hunter, who had the same number of points but a lower shot difference.
The Voyagers, namely Tiens Zietzman, Bill Sargent, Barbara Jackson and Kobie Ritchie, finished third.
The 12-team field was divided into three themed groups – H6 Gt, Tank and P500, after the Haval models on display over the weekend.

Each group played all the teams from the other two groups over two skins of five ends each. If tied, a deciding single end determined the winner.
Said Cleve Walker, organiser of the tournament’s scoring system: “The scoring format meant that even until the last round, as many as five teams were still in contention to win the main pot. No team was able to run away with it. Not only was there R12 000 in prizemoney, the pot was augmented by an auction of the teams before the event began, which doubled the total payout.”
The Trailblazers bought their own team in the auction and picked up almost R14 000 for their efforts. “GWM were fantastic sponsors, entering into the spirit of the tournament and some of the staff even bought teams at the auction,” said Walker.
