Warm send-off ahead of Comrades Marathon

Thobe Marcia Cele, founder of Tough Cookies Social Running Club, thanked everyone for attending and supporting the event.

Despite chilly winter conditions, 27 runners turned out for the Tough Cookies Comrades Send-Off Run and Prayer held at Oribi Plaza in Port Shepstone on June 6.

The group gathered before sunrise and took part in various route options, ranging from 5km to 21km, embracing the camaraderie that has become a hallmark of the Tough Cookies Social Running Club.

The send-off was officially opened with a prayer by Lindelani Itabor, who wished the runners strength, safety and success for the challenge ahead.

Thobe Marcia Cele, founder of Tough Cookies Social Running Club, thanked everyone for attending and supporting the event.

Addressing the gathering, Cele wished all the runners well for the upcoming Comrades Marathon, often referred to as the Ultimate Human Race, and encouraged them to enjoy the experience while giving their best effort on race day.

“The support shown here today means a lot to our runners. We wish every Comrades participant a safe and successful race and look forward to seeing them achieve their goals,” said Cele.

The Comrades Marathon is on June 14.
