Young karateka fly Ugu flag with pride
The athletes have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication.
A group of five local karateka once again did the Ugu region proud when they represented WKF Ugu Karate at the KSA Open Championships held in Westville recently.
The five athletes who represented the region at this national event were Neriah Peeriyilal, Miguel Gous, Tyler Gous, Sarah Sahli and Layla Gous.
There medal haul was as follows: Neriah (gold kumite and gold team kata), Miguel (silver kumite), Tyler (silver kumite), Sarah (gold team kata, silver individual kata), Layla (gold team kata, bronze kumite).
Ilhaam Amod attended the KSA Protea Awards evening held last month.
Karateka who represented South Africa were awarded their Protea colours at this glamourous event.
Ilhaam received her Protea colours for representing South Africa at the WKF Youth League in Fujairah, UAE in February this year, as well as the Youth African Games in Angola in December last year.
Ugu Karate is extremely proud of all of Ilhaam’s achievements to date.
