KWAZULU-NATAL motorists will soon have to fork out more money. This time for new number plates.

The old perspex and plastic plates are to be replaced by aluminium ones.

Not so long ago the authorities claimed that metal plates were no good and needed to be upgraded to acrylic. This was done and the advantages were heralded.

However, they (the officials) have decided it’s time to convert back to metal.

KZN will now go the route of the other provinces and no longer have the town or city system.

Perhaps there are benefits but it sounds like another money making scheme.

No first day blues

THOUSANDS of new grade 1s started ‘big school’ on Wednesday this week.

By all accounts it was a smooth transition with no tears or negative reports from the South Coast schools that were visited.
