It’s almost time for some jazz

Ugu promises an epic festival.

THE Ugu Jazz Festival will take place at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on June 28. This was announced by Ugu mayor Ntomfikile Gumede at a media briefing held at the Riverside Hotel in Durban North on Tuesday this week.

“This is our eighth staging of the festival and I can tell you that since its inception it has been a bumpy road. However, the team’s resilience and determination has produced an improved event each year,” she said.

This year, Ugu has partnered with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Arts and Culture, Hibiscus Coast Municipality, Umzumbe Municipality, Nestlé, SMG South Coast, Isolezwe, Ukhozi FM and Phillip Morris SA.

“Most of these are repeat sponsors  and, without blowing our own horn, this should be enough evidence that we have delivered to our sponsors’ expectations,” said the mayor.

This year’s lineup  includes Hugh Masikela, Ringo Madlingozi, Johnny Clegg and Kunle Ayo. Sharing the stage with these phenomenal music legends will be Pascal and Pierce, Zakes Batwini, Micasa, Berita and Afro Soul to mention a few.

Tickets are already available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers Stores nationwide. Ticket prices are R150 for the pre-party, R280 for general access, R450 for the golden circle and R800 for VIP.
