Have we failed our children?

No wearing of green ribbons is going to help - we need to unite in protecting and supporting our children.

DURING Child Protection Week there have been many events and lots of debates about the rights of children.

While South Africa has excellent legislation ensuring those rights, the reality is that our children are not protected.

As a civilised society everyone must be held accountable for the care of our children.

Newspaper headlines paint a bleak outlook for children’s well-being.

No hidden agenda

POINT taken re the letter from the mayor’s office published on this page.

We would like to stress that our intentions were honourable. We published the item about the tidal pool at the request of the company as a ‘good news’ story.

We did not intend to score political points for any particular party.

George Henderson was merely there as the councillor of the ward.

Although the article did refer to the project as being driven by HCM, we concede that more credit should have been given to the municipality.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
